WTF? Arena Evacuated During Clippers-Grizzlies Game

Share/Bookmark

Up 12 late in the 3rd quarters the Clippers appeared to be cruising to their 5th straight win on the road in Memphis, but strange things were afoot at FedEx Forum. Following a Baron Davis free throw attempt, everyone in the arena was ordered to evacuate due to an undisclosed “emergency.” The game was delayed for more than half an hour before the situation was resolved and play was allowed to continue. Turns out all the fuss was over a broken water pipe and claims that the smell of smoke was evident in the building. Someone must have been smoking some oxygen.

Even though about 85% of the fans in attendance chose to chunk the deuces when play resumed, the delay obviously impacted the Clippers as they proceeded to trick off the game in grand fashion. But Baron Davis did manage to mess around and get a triple-double, so all was not lost.
