That Boy Good: Laker Great Jerry West Gets Statue Unveiled In Front of Staples Center

Share/Bookmark

Laker legend Jerry West, aka “The Logo”, got to kick off NBA All-Star Weekend with a special unveiling of a bronze statue that joins the likes of Magic, Oscar De La Hoya, Gretzky and Chick Hearn in front of Staples Center.

West was joined on the podium by the Legend that is longtime local CBS sports reporter Jim Hill (possibly the flossiest hairdo in the history of network TV), along with hall of famers Bill Russell, Elgin Baylor, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar plus Pat Riley, David Stern and current Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak.

Whilst it is great to see Jerry West being honored with a statue, and deservedly so, it’s hard not to wonder where the f**k Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s statue is at. The dude is the all-time scoring leader and possibly the greatest basketball player of all times (based on his overall basketball resume).

I’d complain some more, but who’d listen? Jerry West’s statue unveiling ceremony after the jump…
