College Football Saturday: The U Is Back!!!!

Share/Save/Bookmark

#17 Miami 21, #8 Oklahoma – We know a lot of people jumped off the bandwagon after the U’s humiliating defeat at Va Tech last weekend but much like Pimpin’ Snooky….The U is Back!!! After 4 consecutive games against Top 25 opponents, one of the toughest schedules to start a season in recent memory, Miami escaped with a record of 3-1 after beating an Oklahoma team playing once again without Heisman winner Sam Bradford. But that really wasn’t an excuse for the Sooners, who were playing well with replacement Landry Fields heading into the matchup. The U should be rewarded for this victory with a nice jump back up the polls.

Jacory Harris was ready for this game, so much so that he even got “U SWAG” cut into his hair. Harris didn’t have his swag right early on in the game, throwing 2 picks in the first quarter. He recovered nicely though and finished 19-28 for 202 yards, 3 TD and the 2 picks. Harris led the ‘Canes on a 4th quarter drive that ate up the final 4 minutes of the game. Running back Javarris James (Edge’s cousin) had one of the best games of his career rushing for 150 yards.

The highlight of the night came the after Jacory’s postgame interview when he asked someone if they have seen (Oklahoma replacement QB) Landry Jones, to which said person responded “Who?” then Jacory responded “the quarterback.”

#7 USC 30, #24 Cal 3 - For the 2nd straight week Cal gets humiliated, this time at home. Unfortunately for the Trojans just got Oregon’s leftovers and their smashing of the Golden Bears in Berkeley won’t do much for their National titles hopes. It really just shows what we knew all along, Cal was overrated. This has been a pretty consistent trend during the Jeff Tedford era. The team starts out hot with some impressive victories, then proceeds to trick it like they got it. Jahvid Best struggled again, only managing 47 rush yards on 14 carries, effectively ending his heisman campaign

It was an emotional game for the Trojans, playing without Stafon Johnson, who underwent emergency throat surgery earlier in the week, but Joe McKnight filled in nicely with 119 yards and 2 TD. Matt Barkley looked solid in his first start since suffering a shoulder injury against Ohio State.

Miami Beats #14 Ga. Tech Badly…But Still Not THE U

Share/Save/Bookmark

Miami 33 – Georgia Tech 17: We’re just going to put what we wrote about Jacory Harris before the game and Miami Hurricanes Team (no, they have not earned the title of THE U yet). But basically we told you so.

Jacory Harris Stats: 20 of 25 passing, 270 yards, Three TD’s, No INT’s or fumbles. Dude was in the zone and looking like the black Drew Brees back there. And the funny thing is, he was killing while sitting in the pocket…he only had one rush for no yards. Needles to say he’ll be in our Heisman rankings coming out tomorrow.

PLAY OF THE GAME

But now is no time to celebrate a victory because they still have not been granted the title of THE U just yet. Not when they’ve got Virgina Tech next Saturday, then Oklahoma the Saturday after that. They’re still the underdawgs right now.

See anybody can win when they’re not supposed to…it’s the great ones that win when everybody expects them too. And THE U is great, so they must run the table. They must beat VTech and OU. And then, and only then will we grant them the title of THE U. Because by then they will have become the team that everyone loves to hate and have developed that ‘Pac “Me Against The World” type attitude.

In The Face: Ride’em Cowboy

Starring Dwayne Collins as Cowboy and Greg Paulus as a Bull

Dunk Score: 10

Damnnn! Duke ended up winning the game against Miami, but Greg Paulus scored a loss on the season for getting dunked on this bad. He got banged on In The Face and then rode like a prize bull afterward. And while Collin’s nuts did not touch the face, they were planted on the back of of Paulus’s neck for about 3 seconds. Just long enough for some ball sweat to run down his back….

And below we have two dunks from the boy wonder they call Blake Griffin. On this highlight he gives you an windmill and then later on he skys over two players for the jam. No jelly.

Long Live TheU

Anybody who knows college football knows TheU aka Miami University has one of the most cracking programs in modern history. Fourteen straight NFL Drafts with a first round pick, this is a streak that takes you back to the Biggie and Pac days. Well the streak looks to be finally coming to an end. Their reign at the top over, but they shall rise again.

Take yesterday’s bowl game, there was a lot of young talent on the field. They lost 17-24, but if Jacory would not have fumbled on like the 2 yard line late in the 4th quarter…we would have been saying TheU is back. Tis Tuff. He is only a freshman tho and not Pat White so give him time. Now to honor the players of TheU First Round past…

If You’re Late to Class That’s Your Ass…

Robert Marve, you will not be going to the Emerald Bowl. Suspended on a violation of team rules, which really means for missed four or more classes, the starting QB will not be making the trip to SanFran with the team. Tis Tuff, you don’t even know the half.

If you ask his dad, he didn’t even miss class. He was just 15 minutes or so late to one of them because he was talking to another professor on the last day of classes! But, he missed the ever dreaded athletic administration class check and was marked absent.

We guess you can catch the bus if you running, but o no the Emerald Bowl don’t wait.
