Real Salt Lake Wins 2009 MLS Cup

You know we aren’t really rolling with US Soccer, and prefer Champions League or Liga, naturally. But we did check out the 2009 MLS Cup to witness one of the most exciting games in League history. Real Salt Lake showed they have heart in this one, bouncing back for a 1-0 deficit and eventually winning 5-4 in PK’s after Landon Donovan tricked the game off. Real Salt Lake won their first MLS cup, in only their 5th season in the League. They also became the first team to win the Cup with a losing record.

The player of the game was easily Real Salt Lake forward Robbie Findley, who scored the game-tying goal in the 64th minute, sparking the comeback victory. Findley, a Phoenix native, comes from an athletic bloodline, including his cousins Atlanta Hawks guard Mike Bibby and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Shaun McDonald. Findley wears #10, just like Bibby, in honor of Team Dime, a group compromised of various family and close friends. Findley’s goal was even more sweeter considering the fact that he was drafted by the Galaxy in 2007 and traded to Real Salt Lake after a few months with the team. Payback is a beezy.

Mike Bibby And Team Dime Dropping An Album…

So we told you about Carmelo Anthony and his record label Krossover Entertainment signing Cassidy awhile back, but now Carmelo might have some competition for the athlete with the sickest record label because our dude Mike Bibby has Tha Realest on his label Team Dime Entertainment.

And just like the man says, he’s real. Tha Realest, spelled with an “a” instead of an “e” because he is so real, used to be down with Death Row and Suge Knight back in their day. And now he is getting down with Team Dime to release what should be a pretty decent first studio album on July 14th. It got the homie Fat Joe, Crooked I, and Devin The Dude on it. Sick! Jordan Team Dime Exclusive Kicks

Here we have the Jordan Pure Pressure limited edition ‘Inauguration Day’ kicks. You can’t buy these no where. They were specially made by the folks at Jordan for Mike Bibby to wear only. Sucks for all of us. If you ever see a pair you’ll notice the date of 1.20.09 stitched in. And of course they would not be a Mike Bibby shoe without the Team Dime logo on them.

NBA Chase: Game Winners and Buzzerbeaters

Hawks 103 – Rockets 100: All we have to say is Mike Bibby. The man who once made Sacramento cracking is putting on the Hawks. You know he done done something nice when he does “The Dance”. Tied at 100 a piece he finished them with a 3. Peace up A Town down.

Spurs 108 – 76er’s 106: Some might say this game had a better buzzer beater than the Atlanta game. Tony Parker, offensive rebound, floater from 10, over two dudes, right as the buzzer went off. Yeah, it was legendary. It takes the Spurs to 22-11, right in the chase.

Heat 101 – Nets 96 (OT): DWade is nice. Although he did doink a dunk bac to half court, he have 2 big blocks on Vince and Brook Lopez. Yeah he is 7 feet and Wade is only 6′2. This is one of those blocks that just make you say damnnnnnnn!

Goodbye Lute :-(

The entire JerseyChaser staff would like to bid a fond farewell to everyone’s favorite T-loc, Lute Olson. After more than 34 years of D1 coaching (and 24+ at Bear Down U) Olson’s intent to retire was announced on October 23, after much speculation into his recent declining health and the revelation that he had at least one stroke within the last year.

While there has been much debate into what’s going down in Tucson as of late (shady cake beatings, broken promises, patron binges etc), that is for another discussion.

Lute, we wish you the best and want to thank you for years of legendary Wildcat squads and for bashing Kentucky back in 1997 when nobody east of Flagstaff thought you could do it. Your a legend bro.
