Everybody does a second chance to make a first impression and even though Michael Vick had to learn the hard way, the former NFL superstar and walking the long road back to redemption. For his contriubtions to the Eagles this season, Vick was selected by his teammates as the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, given annually to a player from each team who exemplifies courage and sportsmanship, in honor of the former Baltimore Colts trainer.
Vick was a unanimous selection by the team and even thought he has played sporadically (RIP Brittany Murphy). He has remained a dangerous threat when on the field, scoring 3 touchdowns this season, 2 coming against his former team the Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Vick has done enough to show that he can still be a starter in this league and will most likely take his services elsewhere next season as there are plenty of teams whose quarterback situations are beyond nasty.
Before Vick served his time he promised to do so saying he had no choice but to repair his image and show his fans that it is possible to change. Animal rights groups have done much to try and salt Vick’s game meanwhile Vick has done much to spread positive messages across America about the dangers of animal cruelty. Even though he has used his celebrity to help campaign against the so-called terrible crimes he committed against pit bull dogs (note: I’m eating a variety of leftover Christmas eve animal all butchered in the name of filling my belly). These organizations have been critical of Vick despite his attempts to do the right thing. Let the legend live and worry about bigger fish. Via Baltimore Sun
