Jaguars Win The Hampton Cup

At first we thought the trophy that Maurice Jones-Drew was holding up was the award he got for “NFL Player That’s Built Like A Pit Bull Dog.” Turns out it’s actually the Hampton Cup, which is a trophy created by a group of brothers that have dominated the equipment game in the NFL for decades. When it’s between the brothers, you know it’s a pride thing.

The Hampton Cup was originally created in 2002 when Billy Hampton, who was working with Browns, realized that he would be playing against his brother’s Clay, a former Jets equipment manager who is now the senior director of operations and Drew, the Jaguars equipment manager since 1998.

Billy Hampton no longer works for the Browns so the Cup is now centered on meetings between the Jaguars and Jets. The last time the 2 teams faced each other was in 2006, a meeting the Jaguars also won, which means that Drew Hampton gets to maintain bragging rights until the teams meet again. Via Jets Website
