Shocker: Jordan Reached Out To Rodman

Share/Bookmark

After hearing Michael Jordan criticize LeBron for joining forces with D-Wade and Chris Bosh, something about his statement struck me as odd.  Not only did he compare D-Wade and Bosh to Bird and Magic, but he insinuated that he never needed or recruited anyone to help his cause in Chicago.

I instantly recalled the summer of 1995 at the Jordandome, a basketball complex constructed on the lot of Warner Bros for Michael to train, while filming the movie Space Jam. I was entering my sophomore year at UCLA, and we had just won the NCAA Championship. Jordan invited several of the UCLA players to the runs at the Jordandome, and I rarely missed a day.

The pick-ups games there were stuff of legend and I was competed against the best players of that era.  Grant Hill, Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson, Rod Strickland, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman were regulars at the runs, and I was privy to all of their interactions with each other.

There was a rumor within the players circle that Rodman would be joining the Bulls the next season, and his presence and interaction with Jordan fueled those suspicions. Rodman was traded to the Bulls in October, the video footage above is circa July/August of that summer.

You know we had to do a parody of Lady Gaga’s smash-hit “Alejandro,” by giving some love to one of the best young talents in the NBA, none other than Celtics guard Rajon Rondo. If you’ve seen any of our other parody videos, then you know we got that real poo poo. Enjoy!

LeBron & Shaq’s First Alley-Oop

Back in the day Shaq use to catch these lobs with 2 hands above the rim and deliver a monster dunk (whilst never faking the funk). But the dude is an old head now and has plenty of tread on his tires. Tis tough.

LeBron Going To Be Starring In A Comedy Movie…

Share/Save/Bookmark

We don’t even mean to post about LeBron so much, but the dude doing too much. He’s got the World Tour, the shoes, that album and documentary More Than A Game dropping soon, a Friday Night Lights mixed with Entourage TV show co-produced with Ice Cube dropping coming next year, and now you can add starring in a feature film to that list.

Word just came in that LeBron will be starring in a Universal Pictures comedy called “Fantasy Basketball Camp” about five guys from different backgrounds who come to Las Vegas to live out their fantasy by attending James’ basketball camp. And LeBron won’t just be starring in the movie, he’ll be executive producing too. As if he needed anymore money and fame. Movie starts filming next summer.

Blurb: For all you fantasy football players out there FX is about to be coming out with a movie about you. Called “The League” and created by the same people that brought you Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld it is a comedy about members of a fantasy football league and how its members balance their friendship and non-league lives.

Jay-Z On David Letterman…

Our bad, we forgot to post this one yesterday. It’s a clip of Jay-Z on Letterman dropping knowledge on the Nets moving to Brooklyn and if he’s going to try to get LeBron to play on the team. And just in case you don’t like videos, here goes the info:

Brooklyn Nets: “We’re trying to get to Brooklyn, I think in early December (we’ll start building the new stadium)… (It’ll take) hopefully a year (to complete).”

On LeBron: “We’ll have a great team surrounding him so hopefully he’ll come to Brooklyn. He’s my friend first so I wouldn’t do that to him if we didn’t have a chance of winning (the NBA championship) because he’s going to be great. I want him to be great. Whatever team lands him, I want him to be great.”

We Saw It! The LeBron Documentary “More Than A Game” Official REVIEW

OK, so we just saw a screening of the documentary, which is due out in early October. The film in one word, RIDICULOUS! Brotherhood, Pride, Team, Friendship, Celebrity, Family, Youth, Struggle, Life. This documentary has it all.

We’ve seen all of the basketball documentaries….Hoop Dreams, Through The Fire (Sebastian Telfair), Second Chance Season (Nick Young), all of the HBO Sports docs, etc. More Than A Game is the cream of the crop.

This isn’t a story about a group of cocky inner-city youth that audiences may be expecting. And it isn’t a story that focuses on the film’s main attraction, LBJ. The main character is essentially the Head Coach/Father of the starting Point Guard, Dru Joyce.

His half-time speech in the State Championship Game of 2003 is worth the price of admission by itself. The stories and heart-felt commentary from the players, coaches, and families will surely force you to shed a tear on several different occasions.
