Now It’s Really Time To Celebrate LeBronukkah!

Let’s be honest, when football and basketball are on hiatus, the sports landscape is, for lack of a better word, boo boo. But with arguably the most ridiculous free agency period in NBA history now underway, basketball has never been more relevant. The various (social) media outlets are buzzing with what the future holds, as every team in the league looks to make their next move their best one and find some long term stability.
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & Chris Bosh are the marquee names in the mix, but with several other stars deciding whether to stay with their current squads or bounce for greener pastures, this thing is going to be exciting. Almost everybody has their sources, trying to kick knowledge about who’s going where, but around these parts we prefer to wait and see.
Much talk has been made about the potential 3-headed monster in Miami, but the real question is which owner is going to have the biggest huevos, to move and shake to create a legitimate contender. When playing with big chips, the luxury tax means nothing. What we do know is that even the brightest star (see King James) can’t do it alone.
In order to win a ring in this NBA, teams have to follow the blueprint of the Lakers, Celtics and Spurs–2 to 3 hall of famers, mixed with 1 to 2 stars (current or in the making) a few old grizzled legends and a couple of weenies. It will be interesting to see which guys will make moves for the dough and which ones will chose their destination for the ring.

Stephen A. Says LeBron James Headed To Miami

Apparently Stephen A. Smith talked to 19 people about LeBron James’ impending free agency, but it only took one reliable source (who hasn’t done him wrong in 15 years) to come to the conclusion that the King will be heading to South Beach. Smith also claims that Chris Bosh will be joining a Heat squad that already includes All-Star guard Dwyane Wade. Shhheeeeeiiiit!
If this actually comes to fruition, the move would immediately make the Heat a legitimate championship contender. With damn near $50 mill in cap space next season, the Heat have enough cheese to sign 2 max deals, but their pockets may get a little thin if they get got by the sign and trade.
At this point anything is possible, as teams thirstily await the opening of free agency Thursday. Almost every franchise will be making their pitch at King James, as well as to the numerous other ballerticians looking to stack chips like Phil Ivey and them.
The Heat situation looks a little too good to be true, and unlike the Big 3 in Boston, would be a squad with 3 legit hall of famers in their legit primes. Someone’s numbers are going to have to take a dip and it probably won’t be LeBron’s.
King James & Serena Snag BET Sportsman Award

In what could be arguably sicker than the MVP or a Grand Slam trophy, LeBron James and Serena Williams won the 2010 BET Awards for best male and female athlete respectively. With cakes like every day is her birthday and titles like Amazon, Serena was the easy choice on the female side.
The Award is nothing new to the King, as he made it his 2nd straight year taking home the crown. Coincidentally, the BET Awards were held in Los Angeles, and with The Lake Show fresh off their repeat, it would be assumed that Kobe should have gotten the nod. The voting was probably done before the playoffs or based on swag.

King James Shows Up For “LeBron Day” In Akron

In another desperate attempt by fans to keep King James in Cleveland, thousands gathered in LeBron’s hometown of Akron, to honor the MVP at “LeBron Appreciation Day.” Although the event organizers didn’t konw if LeBron would actually show up to the event, much to their surprise, he did end up showing up towards the conclusion and briefly addressed those that were fortunate enough to stick around.
In front of the assembled crowd, King James stated the following:
Akron is my home, it’s my life. Everything I do is for this city. I’m going to continue to do great things. I love every last one of you all. Akron is home.
Although his comments were poignant, LeBron did not give those in attendance any inclination of his future plans now that free agency is almost upon us. While it is almost a guarantee that King James will in fact continue to do great things, what remains to be seen is where he will be doing these great things. Most people believe if it isn’t in Cleveland it will be in New York or New Jersey. Hopefully David Geffen has something to say about that.

Shocker: LeBron Keeps Quiet On Cavs Coach Search
Posted by BROSEFOLOPHOGUS on
June 15, 2010

In recent days the NBA has been buzzing with the news that the Cleveland Cavaliers are strongly considering hiring Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo. King James has been very quiet on the subject, but would allegedly be rolling with Izzo if the Cavs decided to woo him away from the collegiate ranks. The only problem is that at this point LeBron has made no contact with Izzo and it wouldn’t make a difference if he did anyway as King James now has his attention focused on making his next move his best one. Odds are that Izzo won’t be willing to abandon the legacy he has developed at Michigan State to take over a LeBron-less Cavs, as this would most certainly be career suicide.
LeBron has no reason to aid or cooperate with the Cavs search for their next head coach, because that would be playing his hand a little too early instead of trying to see what other options are available across the League. The Cavs may have the most to offer financially in the LeBron James sweepstakes, but as Joakim Noah eloquently point out during the 1st round of the NBA playoffs, Cleveland is basically a dump and will forever be a second-tier market, unfit for a player on pace to become the greatest of all times. With so many (better) options available to the King, the Cavs may have to kick back for a few to see how things play out.
LeBron Served By Ricardo The Bus Boy In Pop-A-Shot

June 4, 2010

When the Lakers fans started the obligatory “M-V-P” chant late in the 4th quarter of Game 1, we were waiting for a shot of LeBron to pop up on the big screen. After a few moments it became clear that Lakers fans were actually chanting for Kobe (erroneously), but obviously it was just a courtesy for the Black Mamba. Interestingly enough King James was actually in Los Angeles Thursday, hollering at Jimmy Kimmel Live…and hopefully the Clippers.
Unfortunately King James took another L, this time to Barney’s Beanery Bus Boy Ricardo in a game of Pop-A-Shot. Ricardo could become somewhat of a legend (or get deported) as he will be appearing on Kimmel throughout the NBA Finals taking on some of the League’s current and former stars. Ricardo will be in action again Sunday night when he’ll take on Charles Barkley

King James Spotted At Drake Concert

Any time you are asked to come hang out on stage with arguably the hottest performer in the game (right now)…well then you must be the greatest. A lot of people will see this video of LeBron James chilling on stage with Drake at a recent performance in Cleveland and try to clown the King for being both out of the playoffs, and a “hype man.” As we all know, one man can’t do it all (but he can come damn close with a pretty wack team) and when you are the King, about to be sitting on an extra 100+ million stacks in the next few months, you can do as you damn well please.
Although MJ was on this type of level in his day, appearing in Michael Jackson videos and also having those legends from the House Party movies (Full Force if you care) at the end of “Michael Jordan’s Playground,” this type of mainstream stardom is something that has definitely eluded Kobe in recent years, for some strange reason.
