King James Works Out At Heat Facility

For basketball players, the summertime is when you work on improving your weaknesses. This process is called “trimming the fat” and the really good ones (Kobe, MJ) work tirelessly at it in the off-season. Though a 2-time MVP, James is still raw in several aspects of the game.
Athletically he is advanced and offensively technically sound, but he has flaws. He needs to play with a lower center of gravity and at times his footwork can be suspect.
In this video taken at the Miami Heat practice facility, James and Head Coach Erik Spoelstra work at making James more efficient with his movements, and trimming the fat on his offensive attack game.
I like the fact that Spoelstra is out there working one-on-one with Lebron. This not only is good for Lebron’s game, but for the coach star player relationship that hinges upon the success of this team. Spoelstra is smart and putting work in w/Lebron now in the trenches, may help their bond in the long run.
Popular opinion has the Heat winning 70 games this season, which I wholeheartedly disagree with. Though it could be done on paper or in a video game, in the NBA it won’t be so simple.
Lebron/Wade/Bosh still have to develop chemistry and trust, which is encouraging to seem them getting their GTL on in late August, a full month before training camp.
LeBron James Hollers At GQ, Wears Skinny Jeans

King James granted GQ an interview and photoshoot, where he decided to rock those questionable pair of white super-skinny jeans pictured above. LeBron’s questionable fit was nowhere near what Kobe rocked for that Kunta Kinta-esque spread for the L.A. Times earlier this year, but it was still too extra smedium for our liking.
‘Bron kicked a little bit of knowledge in his interview though, saying that being from Akron he was never really rolling with people from Cleveland cause they thought they were bigtime.
This is a pretty interesting considering that Clevelanders embraced LeBron as their King when he was in Cleveland, but shat all over his name when he bounced. LeBron is always King in Akron.
‘Bron also addressed the Dan Gilbert situation, basically saying that Gilbert has shown his true colors and the Cavs should be expecting several ass-kicking in the near future. Via GQ
LeBraterade: Dennis Rodman Knocks LeBron

Joining in the chorus of his fellow legends, Dennis Rodman becomes the latest to publicly disparage two-time MVP Lebron James. Speaking during an autograph session at the Naismith Hall of Fame, Rodman was asked about Lebron and “The Decision”.
Here is what the Worm had to say about LeBron being compared to his former Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen:
People talk about LeBron, you’ve got to understand, LeBron has no business even being in the same conversation with Scottie. Scottie was the epitome of the (do it all elite player). What do you want me to say? Scottie was great.
Last time we checked LeBron’s numbers are way better than Scottie’s and King James didn’t have the luxury of playing most of his career with the G.O.A.T. Via Bulls Blog
LeBrating Continues At Ohio Amusement Park

LeBron may have missed all 3 of his attempts when recently playing the shooting game at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio (snapple fact: Sandusky is also home to Callahan Auto Parts…they have solid brake pads), but everyone knows that amusement park games are janky.
LeBron should have demanded a refund. Via Huffington Post

LeBron James Back In Akron For Bike-A-Thon

The King was back in his hometown of Akron Saturday, putting on his annual Bike-a-Thon, which raises money for local area charities. It was LeBron’s first public appearance back in Ohio since he decided to make his next move his best one and take his talents to South Beach.
Unlike the endless amounts of hateration that has been flowing from Cleveland since LeBron’s departure, including the burning of King James’ Cavs jersey and public ridicule over that whole Delonte West thing, Akron has and always will support their hometown hero.
LeBron took a little time to address all those that came out to support the event, once again thanking the people of Akron for having his back no matter what. LeBron also gave a shout out to Cleveland and thanked the city for 7 great years.
Now that’s classy. Not bad for 25 year old kid. More video from LeBron James’ Bike-a-Thon after the jump…
LeBron Shows Love To Akron With Newspaper Ad

A week after the city of Akron honored their hometown hero by passing a resolution commending LeBron James for “extraordinary basketball accomplishments and his continuing involvement in the Akron community,” the King decided to show a little love back. LeBron took out a full-page ad in the Akron Beacon thanking the city for it’s continued support.
A very classy gesture for the Ohio legend that witnessed various levels of hatred and animosity from Clevelanders after his decision to take less money for better opportunity. The majority of Akron has refused to sip the proverbial LeBraterade, standing by LeBron and supporting his decision.
Still waiting to see if LeBron will take out an ad in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, thanking that city for their (temporary) support when he was leading their teams to places that will likely not see soon if ever again. Odds are it probably won’t happen.
LeBron Scrimmages At King’s Academy Bball Camp

Unfortunately there is no footage of LeBron getting dunked on.
After getting it cracking in Las Vegas a few weekends ago, King James and his “LeBrontourage” converged on So Cal, more specifically the campus of UCSD, for the annual “LeBron James King’s Academy” July 29-August 2.
Coincidentally there wasn’t nearly as much media attention focused on the camp for Boy & Girls ages 7-17, featuring the best player in the NBA along with legends like Romeo Travis & Dru Joyce (Bron’s old high school teammate & coach and stars of ”More Than A Game”) offering instruction and skills training that only a back-to-back MVP can provide.
Apparently when LeBron is just trying to be a ballerific 25 year old and do it up in Vegas (at a profit) it’s a bigger deal then when he takes nearly a week out of his busy schedule to reach out and show some love to the kids.
Then again at damn $700 a camper (overnight) to be down with the King, LeBron’s love does cost a (few) thing(s). More video of the King’s Academy after the jump…
