Favre May Need Ankle Surgery To Play In 2010

So more than 3 months after the Vikings NFC Championship lost against the Saints, Brett Favre’s shady ankle still isn’t healing properly and may require (minor) surgery in order for Favre to be able to play next season. Apparently Favre isn’t the biggest fan of going under the knife and is toiling with the decision to retire yet again. In an email sent to ESPN, Favre said:

This decision would be easy if not for my teammates and the fans and the entire Vikings staff. One year truly felt like 10 — much like Green Bay for many years. That’s what I was missing in my heart I suppose, a sense of belonging.

The Brett Favre retirement debate has been going on now for nearly half a decade, with the legend dominating offseason talk each of the past few years. It seems like this surgery issue is something that Favre could have easily addressed immediately following the end of the Vikes season, instead of waiting until damn near May for this news to drop. Favre could have already underwent the surgery and chillaxed for a few months, but then the focus would be on his recovery and whether or not the ankle will be strong enough to return. But now we are back to square one, with what looks like another summer wasted waiting for Favre to make a decision. Via ESPN

Vikings Fans Still Thirsty For Favre Return

Share/Bookmark

Ok Vikings fans, we get it, you guys are thirstier than a Kenyan marathon runner on mile 25 for a Brett Favre return to the Purple & Gold next season. A local Minneapolis radio station KFAN decided to join a group of Vikings fans by purchasing their own billboard in Mississippi begging Favre & family to head back to the city that Christian Laettner helped build.

Even after Big Brett almost single-handedly tricked off the NFC Championship, Vikings supporters around the world realize that Favre is the best option for success in 2010. Favre has been his usual self in regards to a potential comeback. Most likely he will chill out for the entire offseason and then make a decision somewhere damn near training camp. But the dude does have a little something left in the tank, but only time will tell if it is sugary.

Ewww: Favre’s Agent Releases Nasty Injury Pics

Share/Bookmark

Even though Brett Favre tricked off the Vikings Super Bowl, you can’t say that he doesn’t have heart after taking a look at a few pictures of his injured hamstring and ankle suffered during the NFC Championship loss to the New Orleans Saints. Many felt that Favre’s costly pick late in the 4th quarter was idiotic because he could have easily ran for the necessary 5-10 yards to put kicker Ryan Longwell into game-winning field goal range, but his wheel was worse than anyone could have imagined and at that point, running was probably not a legitimate option for the old vet. The interception was still nasty, and has defined his postseason play in recent years, but the Legend should get a pass.
