WTF? Donovan McNabb Traded To Redskins

Share/Bookmark

In one of the more questionable moves in modern NFL history, the Eagles decided to trade franchise quarterback Donovan McNabb to the division rival Redskins Sunday in exchange for the 37th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, as well as a conditional draft pick next season. McNabb brings and astonishing resume to D.C. including 6 Pro Bowl selections, 5 NFC Championship games as well as a Super Bowl appearance in his 11 seasons with the Eagles. The move means that the Kevin Kolb era has officially began in Philly and that the Jason Campbell era has come to an end in Washington.

With one year remaining on a 2-year extension he signed with the Eagles in 2009, there is no guarantee that McNabb will be with the Redskins past this season, but guaranteed he has both games against his former team this season circled on his calendar already. Only time will tell if he can follow in the footsteps of another famous Redskins quarterback, Doug Williams, and lead the most racist-named team in the NFL back to the Super Bowl.

Vick Picked By Team For Ed Block Courage Award

Share/Bookmark

Everybody does a second chance to make a first impression and even though Michael Vick had to learn the hard way, the former NFL superstar and walking the long road back to redemption. For his contriubtions to the Eagles this season, Vick was selected by his teammates as the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, given annually to a player from each team who exemplifies courage and sportsmanship, in honor of the former Baltimore Colts trainer.

Vick was a unanimous selection by the team and even thought he has played sporadically (RIP Brittany Murphy). He has remained a dangerous threat when on the field, scoring 3 touchdowns this season, 2 coming against his former team the Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Vick has done enough to show that he can still be a starter in this league and will most likely take his services elsewhere next season as there are plenty of teams whose quarterback situations are beyond nasty.

Before Vick served his time he promised to do so saying he had no choice but to repair his image and show his fans that it is possible to change. Animal rights groups have done much to try and salt Vick’s game meanwhile Vick has done much to spread positive messages across America about the dangers of animal cruelty. Even though he has used his celebrity to help campaign against the so-called terrible crimes he committed against pit bull dogs (note: I’m eating a variety of leftover Christmas eve animal all butchered in the name of filling my belly). These organizations have been critical of Vick despite his attempts to do the right thing. Let the legend live and worry about bigger fish. Via Baltimore Sun

Michael Vick’s Finally Getting His Mojo Back

If you don’t roll with Mike Vick, then you’re crazier than a shithouse rat. For Philly, the city that has become the home for embattled superstars from Bad News Virginia, the Vick experiment can be deemed successful, while Iverson’s return to the Sixers is still open to debate. The Eagles have eased Vick into their offensive scheme and have used his capabilities to throw off defenses at random points throughout the game.

Donovan McNabb at least appears to be rolling with the use of Vick, even in goal line situations where a thirst for a TD might cloud one’s vision. Allowing Vick to throw the ball more, will keep opposing defenses confused and when McNabb and Vick are on the field together, the options are unlimited.

With 3 TD in the last 2 games, Vick is going to force the Eagles to make a tough decision next season. Even though Vick has expressed his desire to be a starting quarterback, the Eagles have him by the nuts and his $5 mill salary next season really isn’t that bad considering his potential trade value.

Regardless of what happens next season, the Eagles have a golden opportunity to do something special this year. Currently a game atop the NFC East, the Week 17 showdown at Cowboys Stadium could be the stuff of legend. If the games ends up being for the NFC East title, you can best believe that the Eagles will have something up their sleeve with Vick in mind.

Mike Vick Gives Falcons The Business

Share/Bookmark

A huge Unome! goes out to the Legend Mike Vick, for having his best game of the season at the place he use to call home. Atlanta may not be Vick’s hometown, but it was definitely his adopted city after his time with the Falcons. After being incarcerated for those dogfighting shenanigans and getting booted by Arthur Blank, many thought they would never see Vick dominate in the Georgia Dome again. On Sunday, they found out that this wasn’t going to be the case as the Legend came back to his old stadium and did work, accounting for 2 TD in the Eagles demoralizing victory.

Vick was the first to admit that he was a little nervous coming back to the city that he use to run like numbers, with his legendary #7 still being rocked heavily around town. The initial response to Vick was a solid mix of cheers and boos, that resonated throughout the stadium. But by the time it was said and done, Mike Vick showed flashbacks of his former self and had nearly the entire crowd on their feet cheering him on. Chants of “We Want Vick” could be heard at various points throughout the game, and even though the hometown crowd was sad to see their team take the loss, the respect they showed to their former field general makes your heart flutter.

Who’s Playing For Limbaugh?

Share/Save/Bookmark

When news broke that right-wing conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh was trying to purchase the St.Louis Rams, there was bound to be backlash. Giants DE Mathias Kiuwanukas has publicly stated that he would “never play” for a team owned by Limbaugh, even if his former defensive coordinator is head coach.

Several of the NFL’s black players, including the Jets Bart Scott share this sentiment. There is a reason that Limbaugh incites this reaction amongst some black professional athletes. In the past, Limbaugh has likened the NBA to a “thugs” league and franchises to “gangs.” He was fired from an ESPN television job because of racially insensitive comments about Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. Scott had this to say about Limbaugh’s comments:

A lot of us took it as more of a racial-type thing. I can only imagine how his players would feel. I know I wouldn’t want to play for him. He’s a jerk. He’s an —. What he said (about McNabb) was inappropriate and insensitive, totally off-base. He could offer me whatever he wanted, I wouldn’t play for him. … I wouldn’t play for Rush Limbaugh. My principles are greater and I can’t be bought.

CBSsports.com columnist Mike Freeman had this to say:

Limbaugh is a pungent bowl of stark raving bigoted lunacy. He’d be a dream to cover. But for the NFL, Limbaugh as an owner would be as comfortable as a colonoscopy with a periscope. It’d be one of the great nightmares for the sport. The league has made significant strides in putting its horrid racial past behind it. The NFL isn’t perfect on the issues of ethnicity but it tries.
Allowing Limbaugh, who plays the song “Barack the Magic Negro” on his radio show, a seat at the owner’s table would instantly undermine everything the NFL has worked decades to accomplish.

There is no way Rush Limbaugh should not be allowed to own a NFL team. His history of racially insensitive remarks about blacks, from McNabb to Obama will make it difficult for black players to rationalize playing for that organization. Limbaugh continues to be very critical and mean-spirited towards President Obama, whom many black NFL players hold in high esteem and regard.

WTF! Kolb To Start But Vick Will Get Some Burn

Share/Save/Bookmark

The moment that we have been waitng for, Mike Vick’s return to the NFL, is almost finally here. Even though Donovan McNabb will probably miss another week with that fractured rib and all signs point to Kevin Kolb getting another chance to trick off a game, Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said that Vick will definitely get some playing time.

Even though Vick is a little disappointed with his current situation he still has to be glad that after all this time (most of which was unwarranted) he will be able to continue his professional career and hopefully break bread with all of the creditors that are looming, waiting for their share.

In an interview that Vick did for CBS, which will air Sunday before the game, Vick said “This is not the exact scenario I thought would play out, I thought I’d be playing with a team and actually starting.” To be quite honest we did too, but now at least Vick will get the opportunity to show what he can do.

NFL Week One Injury Report

This is all you could have hoped for as a Michael Vick fan, Donovan McNabb going down with a fractured rib. Now they are saying that it is possible that he could be out for the week two game, but we say it’s going to be more. According to WebMD a fractured rib takes at least six weeks to heal and up until then it’s hard to even breathe.

Now Vick isn’t eligible to play until week three and until then all eyes will be on McNabb to see when he comes back and how good he’ll be. And if he comes back and sucks, which we hope, get ready to see Vick starting a whole lot sooner than expected.

And in sad news our dude Brian Urlacher dislocated his wrist in the Bears first game and now he’s done for the season. In other news, the Giants sick rookie WR Hakeem Nicks got a foot sprain and is going to miss 2-3 weeks.

McNabb’s Not Rolling With T.O. Show

Share/Save/Bookmark

So it seems like Donovan McNabb is still a little salty at the boy T.O. During a press conference at the Eagles’ training camp, D-Mac was asked his thoughts on T.O.’s new show and he said, “The T.O. Show was all right. The first episode… they had some interesting people on there.”  When later asked how the show could be improved, he replied, “Don’t have it.”

However, we over here at JerseyChaser are ROLLING with the show. T.O. is hilarious and a pretty cool dude when he’s not saying all that crazy ‘ish. But most importantly, he has dimes. So McNabb, please stop drinking the haterade just because your show is boo boo.
