Edwards Catches Case For Binging LeBron’s Friend

After a one catch performance in a blowout win against the Radiers last weekend, it appears that the only thing that new Jets receiver Braylon Edwards has caught lately is a case. The former Browns go-to guy by default was traded by Cleveland a few weeks ago for various transgressions is being charged with misdemeanor assault for that incident that popped off with (LeBron’s knig) Edward Givens 3 weeks ago in his former city.
Considering that Givens is more than 70 pounds Braylon’s junior and LeBron is one of his dudes, unlike the abnormally high amount of passes that were thrown his way during his career with the Browns, Edwards will not be able to drop this case.
Edwards is looking at up to 6 months in jail and a small-fry $1,000 fine if convicted. According to his lawyer Not-Johnny Cochran, Braylon plans to enter a not guilty plea at a hearing scheduled for November 17. Fortunately for Edwards, that is a Tuesday which means that if he has to make the trip out to Cleveland to appear in court, it will be on his off day.

The main witness in the Braylon Edwards punchout case, is a chick named Sabrina Parr, who works at Cleveland radio station WKNR 850 (ESPN Cleveland). Parr was at the View Ultra-Lounge & Nightclub Sunday night and claims to have witnessed the confrontation between Braylon Edwards and club promoter Edward Givens, who claimed the punch was a result of some type of jealously between Edwards and LeBron James.
Parr is a regular contributor and host of ESPN Cleveland’s Really Big Show. Recently she went on-air and gave a firsthand account of what happened between Givens and Edwards in the club early this week. She also said she spoke briefly with Edwards while inside the club, claiming that he made a variety of disparaging remarks about some of his former coaches and teammates. Parr is rumored to be currently dating Browns CB Brandon McDonald but has been linked to various professional athletes in the Cleveland area. Despite her relationship with McDonald, she has had less than flattering things to say about the Cleveland Browns.
Former Cavs announcer Michael Reghi, who is ironically an employee of WKNR 850 and hosts a show that airs after Parr’s, proceeded to slam her for some of the remarks she made during her broadcast. Reghi referred to Parr as a gossip monger and claimed that she lacked credibility. Parr was interviewed by Cleveland police regarding the comments that she made on the radio, which she is standing by. Via Waiting For Next Year

Less than 2 days after binging one of LeBron’s knigs outside a Cleveland nightclub, the Browns appeared to have had enough of embattled wide receiver Braylon Edwards, sending him on the the first thing smoking to New York, in exchange for Jets receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and 2 draft picks in 2010. Edwards should provide a spark at the position and give Mark Sanchez a respectable downfield threat.
To be honest, we think the trade really went down because LeBron put a call into the Browns, letting them know that he wasn’t rolling with Braylon in his city any longer. Considering that the entire city will do anything to keep LeBron around once his contract is up, this request was granted posthaste and Braylon was told to holler back 2 times.
The real question is, if LeBron decides to bounce to either the Knicks or Nets in 2010, will Braylon be traded again to accomodate the King?

Though most of you are still bashing Braylon Edwards and the incident that happened on Sunday night, I am still in shock and awe at the public statement that LeBron James made about the situation. It’s one thing for a lawyer to speak out on behalf of an alleged victim, but for LeBron to throw his duey centavos(two-cents) into the fray is bordering on snitching.
Lebron was not present at the club where the altercation took place, and did not witness the events that led to the scuffle. Braylon Edwards is a grown man, responsible for his own actions. LeBron has a lot of audacity to publicly call out Edwards, and in my opinion has lost some credibility as a man. Let Edward Givens and Braylon Edwards handle their issues like grown men, don’t take cheap shots at Edwards claiming “jealousy” of LeBron as the reason why the altercation started.
Jealousy? That’s easy to say, but much harder to believe. What is LeBron, some gorgeous woman that Edwards has courted for years? Give me a break. Calling another man “jealous”, is revealing to the world the true size of an over inflated ego. Some pundits say Edwards broke some “Man-Laws” by his actions. I beg to differ, being that Lebron is in the media claiming another man is “jealous” of him, like he’s some cute babe. LeBron should have approached Edwards directly, not through the media.

After news broke earlier about an alleged incident involving Browns receiver Braylon Edwards and a Cleveland-area promoter named Edward Givens, The King decided to speak on the situation. Givens, who is a friend of LeBron’s, claims that Edwards tried to give him a one-hitter quitter Sunday night outside of View Ultralounge & Nightclub, a local hotspot which Givens promotes for on Sunday’s. Givens also claimed that the reason the incident arose was because Braylon is salty at LeBron. Givens told Cleveland.com:
“After the club closed, I was outside greeting and saying goodbye to people. Braylon comes up and started saying things, degrading me. He said if it wasn’t for LeBron or the Four Horsemen, I wouldn’t have what I have, nor would I be able to get girls. Everyone knows Braylon has a problem with LeBron. So I had to speak up for myself. The conversation started to escalate. As some of his teammates started to pull him back, he punched me. I have a black eye and a cut. I’m not a violent guy. As long as I’ve known Braylon, I’ve allowed him and his friends to come into our events free of charge. Whatever jealousy he has with LeBron, he felt he needed to take it out on me.”
Givens called LeBron after the fight to tell him what happened. After being questioned about the incident, King James had this to say about the apparent beef between him and Braylon:
“I’ve never crossed paths with Braylon before, but it seems like there’s a little jealousy going on with Braylon and me and my friends. I have no idea why, I’ve never said anything to Braylon at all. But for him to do that is very childish. My friend is 130 pounds. Seriously. It’s like hitting one of my kids. It doesn’t make sense.”
There has been no punishment handed down to Edwards yet, as it is up to Givens to file a criminal complaint. You can best believe some type of fine or suspension will be delivered for this blatant violation of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. Browns head coach Eric Mangini said he was aware of the situation but would not comment until more details were released.
