Serena Receives Record Fine For Checking Lineswoman
Tis Tough for Serena Williams. A few weeks after setting the record for earning the most cheese in one season in the history of Women’s tennis, a ballerific $6.5 mill, she is going to have to give a small chunk of that bread back to the cause. The Grand Slam committee fined the finer Williams a record $82,500 for her profanity-laced tongue-lashing of a US Open line judge after being called for a shady foot fault.
The amount of Serena’s fine is near triple the previous record for a Grand Slam fine. Back in 1995 Jeff Tarango was knocked for more than $28,000 for walking off the court and making some questionable remarks about a chair umpire showing favoritism to certain players in exchange for being knigs with said certain players.
Williams will also be on probation for the next 2 years, and should she commit another “major offense” in that time frame at any of the four Grand Slams, she will be forced to miss the following year’s US Open. Her fine will also double to $175,000, which in a grip of cheese even by baller standards. Via Yahoo!
We are pretty sure that Serena’s outburst doesn’t compare to any of those in the video after the jump…
