Redskins WR Cut After Teammate Posts Twitpic Of Him Sleeping In Team Meeting
For Devin Thomas, the term “Don’t Sleep” has taken on a whole new meaning. The fomer Redskins 1st-rounder in 2008 was released by the team Saturday much to his surprise. Although head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan (nepotism? probs not) weren’t very forthcoming with the reasoning behind releasing Thomas, who has seen a diminished role.
Some have speculated that Thomas’ release may have something to do with this photo of the wide receiver, taken by one of his teammates and uploaded to twitter, of him sleeping during a team meeting back in the preseason.
The photo has since been deleted from the twitter account of the player that uploaded it, but once its on the internet there isn’t much that can be done to remove it.
Even though the release is probably a devastating blow for Thomas in only his 3rd season in the league, he gain solace in the $5 million signing bonus he got back in 2008. That seems like enough cheese to ease the pain…even just a little.
