Steelers 27, Vikings 17 – The Steelers defense came up huge, scoring 14 points off of Brett Favre turnovers to hand the Vikings their first loss of the season. Ben Roethlisberger and the offense played a little sloppy but came up with some huge plays in the first half, including a 40 yard touchdown pass to rookie Mike Wallace towards the end of the 1st half. The last 21 points of the game all came in the 4th quarter off of return TD’s of 75+ yards, which is the first time that has happened in an NFL game…Double care!
Saints 46, Dolphins 34 - The Saints are off to one of their best starts in franchise history, going 6-0 for on the 2nd time in team history (1991). After trailing by 10 entering the 4th quarter, Drew Brees did it in the air and the ground as the Saints put up the last 22 points in the game. Ricky Williams balled out for the Dolphins, rushing for 3 TD for the first time since 2000. Saints Safety Darren Sharper scored his 11th interception return TD of his career, only one shy of tying Hall of Famer Rod Woodson’s record.
Bengals 45, Bears 10 – Apparently the only team who think dey gonna beat them Bengals are the Broncos and Texans, as the squad got another win to improve to 5-2. Carson Palmer had 5 TD passes, Cedric Benson rushed for a career high 187 yards and Ochocinco added 2 TD receptions in the game. The cats have been on a roll, winning 8 of their last 10 games and moving into serious discussion to take the AFC North crown away from the Steelers.
Cardinals 24, Giants 17 – The Cardinals secondary had Eli Manning’s number today, picking off Peyton’s little bro 3 times, including Antrel Rolle game-winning interception during a Giants drive with about a minute remaining in the game. After an unceremonious exit from the G-Men a few years back, Kurt Warner threw for 231 yards a TD and an interception against his former squad.
Cowboys 37, Falcons 21 – Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is on a mission to make Big D forget about Roy Williams. After a career day against the Chiefs last week, putting up 250 yards and the game-winning TD, Austin decided to give the home crowd something to cheer about putting up 171 yards and 2 TD as the Cowboys improved to 3-0 against the NFC South this season.
Jets 38, Raiders 0 – After a few disappointing games, the Sanchize is back, well at least he didn’t suck, throwing for 143 yards and a TD against a respectable Raiders defense. The Silver and Blacks offense is where the rub lies. JaMarcus Russell was benched in the 2nd quarter after another sloppy showing and his replacement Bruce Gradkowski didn’t fare much better. Somewhere Jeff Garcia is happier than a pig in shit that he doesn’t have to go through this nightmare.
Patriots 35, Buccaneers 7 - The London game ended being an utter smashing as Tom Brady looks to be getting back into beast mode, after a shaky start to the season. Brady put up 3 pass TD’s but also had 2 interceptions but it didn’t matter because the Bucs offense sucks anyway. The win improved the QB to 26-4 in his career vs NFC opponents.
Colts 42, Rams 6 - Peyton Manning did his usual damage, throwing for 3 touchdowns as the Rams continued to show why the NFL needs relegation. The Colts have won 15 straight games in the regular season, which is a franchise record.
Chargers 37, Chiefs 7 – Chiefs coach Todd Haley might want to start making plans for his next coaching gig, because he will probably be getting the boot within the next 2 years, if not tomorrow. This home loss was not only embarrassing it was demoralizing. The type that makes you want to quit playing and become a yoga instructor.
Texans 24, 49ers 21 - The debut of Michael Crabtree (5 catches for 56 yards) was spoiled by the nasty play of Shaun Hill, who continued to struggle and was bench in favor of former #1 overall pick Alex Smith. In his first action since suffering that shoulder injury which forced him to miss the 2008 season, Smith took full advantage connecting with tight end Vernon Davis in endzone 3 times. The 49ers lost have lost back-to-back game for only the 2nd time since Mike Singletary took over as head coach.
Bills 20, Panthers 9 - It’s about time for the Panthers to make their next move their best one and bench Jake Delhomme, who is having one of the worst seasons of his career. Delhomme threw 3 more interceptions, bringing his season total to 13, which is more than he had in the entire 2008 season. This Bills offense continued to struggle, but was helped out tremendous by the defense, who forced 4 turnovers in the game.
Packers 31, Browns 3 - Mike McCarthy’s squad took advantage of what can basically be considered a free win for the 2nd straight week after smashing the Lions in Week 6. Aaron Rodgers put up a solid 246 pass yards and 3 TD including the first career TD of former UCLA linebacker Spencer Havner, who currently plays both ways for the Pack. The loss was nothing new for the Browns, who made it 8 in a row at home with this one.
