Midwest Regional Semi: (1)Louisville vs (12) ‘Zona
LOUISVILLE 103 – ARIZONA 64
FINAL: This game was pretty good for about the first 7 minutes until it became pretty clear that Louisville was going to bust ‘Zona’s proverbial ass. The Cardinals 39-point victory was the largest in a regional round since 1972. Damn!
Louisville had 5 players in double figures paced by Earl Clark and Samardo Samuels, who dropped 19 and 14 respectively. Their relentless press proved too much for ‘Zona, who were constantly forced into taking quick shots and never really looked comfortable.
Chase Buddinger did manage to put in some work for the Wildcats, dropping a 22 piece with very few biscuits. The Lute Olsen era is officially over in Tucson as Arizona interim head coach Russ Pennell will most certainly get the boot in the upcoming days. The Wildcats did manage to bring some respect to a disappointing season, not only for them, but for the Wac-10 in general.
Louisville looks like they could make a run at the crown but they still got one more to get to the four.
