Kentucky’s B-Ball Program Gets 2000th Win
February 18, 1903 Kentucky’s basketball program got it’s first win and Monday night the school made history recording the 2000th win in school history with demoralizing victory over Drexel in front of the home crowd. Kentucky and North Carolina both started the season on pace to crack the mythical plateau and now the Wildcats sit alone in the record books for at least the next few weeks. The postgame celebration was comparable to a championship celebration, with glitter and confetti showering the stadium as fans and players celebrated in style.
While the 2000 wins are an D1 record, it does not necessarily mean that Kentucky is the most successful college basketball team of all-time. Kentucky’s 7 national championships still rank second to UCLA, who is the only school to crack double digits with 11 banners. Calipari’s new and improved squad, led by super freshman John Wall, continue to look impressive as they get ready to open up SEC conference play. Wall should be able to lead this team to some success come the postseason.
