Holler Back: Soul Train Creator Don Cornelius Decides To Chunk The Deuces
Peace, Love and Soul
Usually Black History Month kicks off in a more positive manner but there is some tragic news to report: Don Cornelius, the architect of the legendary show Soul Train which ran from 1970-2006, has passed away after an apparent suicide.
The news of Cornelius’ death has sent shockwaves through both the entertainment and music communities, given the large impact and influence that Soul Train had on both genres, with Cornelius being credited as one of the original inventors of what we know today as “swag.”
Cornelius joins a long list of Dons, including Vito Andolini, to chunk the deuces far too early. In honor of Cornelius, the city of Los Angeles needs to organize one last legendary Soul Train line .
