After getting all up in the Celtics’ a$$ like a wedgie to the tune of 45 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists, one would expect a considerable amount of saltiness from fans in the Garden, but pouring a beer on the MVP as he made his way to the locker room is just plain Ghettooh.
It is one thing to shout obscenities are make rude jokes at LeBron as he passes by after just dominating your squad like new fish in prison get dominated by Nasty Nate types, but when fans cross the line with actions like this, they are giving the game a black eye.
That is one of the reasons that I was never salty at Ron Artest for rushing into the stands to bing fans after getting hit in the face with a cup full of beverage (likely some inebriation fluids) during the Malice in the Palace.
When fans feel the need to cross the line, all bets are off, and players should be allowed to retort accordingly. Naturally LeBron didn’t feel the need to acknowledge the situation, stopping briefly after the beer was poured on him and then continuing to the locker room.
The only acceptable situations that could have occurred last night is if the fans were pouring Miller High Life, aka “The Champagne of Beers,” on LeBron as a way to prematurely celebrate the Heat’s winning an NBA Championship this season, or if they poured Samuel L. Jackson on him to let King James know that he is a bad a$$ motherf@cker.
In either of those cases the action would have been understandable and classy, but I highly doubt that was what went down.
