Monta Ellis showed why several basketball observers think he will lead the NBA in scoring this season. Last night, Ellis scored a career-high 46 points in a 132-128 defeat of the Houston Rockets.
Ellis’ output was the 3rd highest opening night total in franchise history, trailing on Wilt Chamberlain’s 56 and 48 vs the Pistons and Lakers back in the day.
The trip about his 46 piece, was that Ellis primarily attacked and operated in the mid-range area, making only one 3-pointer the entire game. It should also be noted that Ellis scored all his points in only 39 minutes of action.
Steph Curry balled, finishing with 25 points and 11 assists. Luis Scola had a big night on ya’ll boy David Lee, finishing with 36 points and 16 rebounds. Rockets guard Kevin Martin finished with 28.
Not a lot of defense played in this game, obviously.
