Clippers Unveil New Doc Rivers Inspired Banner at Staples Center Covering Lakers Shrine
In their ongoing quest to make Los Angeles a Clipper Town, the team unveil a new banner in Staples Center to cover the Lakers’ legendary shrine to their Hall of Famers and Championship teams during home games.
The idea initially came from new head coach Doc Rivers, as a means of moving the Clippers out of the Lakers’ shadow at the downtown arena that they both share. The banner features 7 of the Clippers’ key players including Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford and offseason acquisitions JJ Redick and Jared Dudley.
Naturally Lakers fans are salty about the move, and quick to reflect on the Purple and Gold’s accomplishments in the past, instead of looking ahead to the future, like Rivers and his star-studded cast are aiming to do this season.
