Clint Dempsey etched his name into the annals of US soccer history during Team USA’s World Cup opener against Ghana on Monday, becoming the first American to score a goal in 3 different World Cups.
After hitting a Ghana defender with a nutmeg, Dempsey kicked it through the net with just over 30 seconds into the match setting the record for the fastest goal in the history of US soccer in the World Cup.
Dempsey is second on the US all-time leading goal scorers list, behind only 2014 World Cup snub Landon Donovan.
