Manny Ramirez Is A Legend (Like Bagger Vance)

Manny Ramirez may have been born in the Dominican Republic, but he has spent a good portion of his life in America, where he has become fluent in speaking the Kings.
During his introductory press conference with the White Sox Tuesday (who were playing at Cleveland, another of Ramirez’s former teams) Manny decided to conduct his entire press conference in espanol, with a translator right by his side for the whole ordeal. The majority of American reporters in the crowd asked Manny their questions in english, which he obviously understood, then proceeded to answer the question in spanish which the translator bridging the gap.
Manny has gained a reputation throughout his career for being a character, which has caused the media to cast a negative light on him. Conducting the press conference in spanish was just another beautiful demonstration of “Manny being Manny,” and not bowing down to squares just because they want him to.
Looks like Manny has the juice now (literally).

“I can make a Yankee hat, more famous than a Yankee can”–Hov
Nets minority owner and true New Yorker Jay-Z recently agreed to team up with the Bronx Bombers for the release of a limited-edition apparel collaboration including various hats and t-shirts. The deal was put in place to commemorate the Jay-Z/Eminem concerts that are being held on back-to-back nights at Yankee Stadium September 13 & 14.
Here are the details of the joint venture from a joint press release by the Yankees and Jay-Z:
The Jay-Z/Yankee apparel went on sale Monday exclusively at the stadium and will be available there through the historic performances in a few weeks. Jay-Z and the Yankees
All items will feature the presence of Yankees and JAY-Z logos, and all items have been seen and approved by JAY-Z.
Merchandise will include men’s and women’s T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts — all by Majestic — along with New Era 59/50 fitted Yankees caps with the album logo from JAY-Z’s The Blueprint 3.
Apparently Jigga wasn’t joking when he claimed that he can make a Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can, because it’s very close to becoming a reality.

Holler Back: Manny Ramirez Bounces To White Sox

A day after getting thrown out of the game following the first pitch in what would be his last at-bat as a Dodger, Manny Ramirez chilled out momentarily on the waiver wire before being snatched up by the Chicago White Sox. All the NL teams passed on the legend, who has been on the downhill slide since he was caught juicing last season.
Manny has become the proverbial T.O. of Major League Baseball, with few teams willing to risk taking a chance on a perennial star that appears to be on his last leg.
Manny will always be a legend in my book and no matter where he goes, he will fill seats and slang those fake dread caps that the squares love so much.

Decent: East Bound & Down Season 2 Trailer

For some reason watching multiple shots of the legend that is Kenny Powers riding around the streets of Mexico in a moped is all that’s needed to get an adequate thirst for the 2nd season of East Bound & Down, which is scheduled to debut in late September.
Apparently the entire season was shot in Mexico, as Kenny tries to resurrect his pitching career after that shady offer from Tampa forced him to abandon his Boo at the gas station. Even though the show has some of the fakest looking baseball scenes in recent memory, the dialogue and potential to see Katy Mixon’s hooters (even if it was a body double, let us think what we think) makes for some truly exceptional television.

Another Amazing Catch By Japanese Outfielder

After fellow teammate Masato Akamatsu came up with an amazing spiderman-style catch to rob a homerun a few weeks ago, his teammate Amaya Souichirou, tried to one-up him with this spectacular grab during a Hiroshima Carp’s game this weekend, ironically against the same team where Akamatsu made his catch.
Souichirou scaled the wall and posted like a mailbox and snatched the ball out of the air right before it went over the fence. This catch reminds me of my favorite Nintendo video game of all time, Baseball Stars.
Phillies Fan Catches Foul Ball While Holding Snacks

The only things that make baseball enjoyable are beer, snacks (mainly nachos or churros when applicable) decent chicks (usually accompanied by square boyfriend) and the possibility of becoming a legend by making a miraculous foul ball catch. This Phillies fan not only caught the result of a unsuccesful swing by Jason Werth, and managed to save his snack and beverages in the process.
Now that’s pimping!
Kudos to the cameraman who stayed with the entire play and managed to get a great shot of the snack-carrier coming up with the instant hojo-worthy barehanded catch. [via H8torade]

We are all for the targeted ads that Google has been killing the game with for some time now, but perhaps they need to do a better job of filtering out which ads show up particular instances.
This Clemens tweet, in which he denies taking HGH or steroids, includes advertisements that link to specialists providing the vary goods that many have the Rocket doing some time in the near future. Via Twit longer
