All I Know Is, The Idaho Coach Has A Lot Of Balls

Share/Bookmark

Idaho head coach Robb Akey has a king-kong-sized set of balls. With his Vandals trailing by 7 in the final moments of the game, the squad engineered one of the greatest comeback in the history of shitty Bowls. The Vandals marched down the field and scored a touchdown with 4 seconds remaining in the game. Instead of playing it safe and kicking the extra point, Akey decided to leave the offense on the field. Maybe ESPN got in his ear and told him that going to overtime would have taken even more time away from the much more important Holiday Bowl featuring Arizona and Nebraska, or maybe Akey figured his team was rolling and they had one more big play in them.

The decision proved to be huge as Idaho got the miraculous win in front of the home crowd. After 9 consecutive losing seasons in which they were beaten like a redheaded stepchild constantly, Akey has gotten the program in the right direction and with this win over a pretty solid Bowling Green program the Vandals players should be taking advantage of a lot of courtesy hojos when school gets back in session.

King James Does Work On 25th Birthday

Share/Bookmark

With stars like Terrell Owens and rapper Fabolous in attendance, you knew LeBron was going to have to put it down on his 25th birthday. First off, hot damn, the dude is only 25 years old and it feels like he has been killing the game for more than a decade. LeBron did work putting up 48 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in 43 minutes of play but the Cavs needed a clutch 3 pointer from Anderson Varejao to propel the them to their 26th victory this season.

The crazy part is that he isn’t even anywhere near his peak, which is at least 4-5 years away. By that time he should have mastered all facets of the game and should be averaging a triple double. But until then we get to watch greatness get greater, despite still having one of your nastier all-around teams in the league. Sadly what on paper looked like an upgrade for the Cavs at the start of the season, hasn’t come to being just quite yet. When you have King James on your squad, anything is possible.

Holler Back: UCLA’s Brian Price Bouncing To NFL

Share/Bookmark

After watching UCLA defensive tackle Brian Price dominate opposing offensive lines for the past 3 seasons, his decision to chuck the deuces at his senior year and get that league cheese was easy like the Sunday mornings in which he will now be playing. Price is a native of South Central and attended Crenshaw high school before heading across town to play for the Bruins.

After the Bruins stunning comeback victory in the EagleBank Bowl Tuesday against Temple, Price decided to make his next move his best move as he will be a lock for the early first round. The dude looks something like Warren Sapp out there and even though he went against a wacker breed of competition on a routine basis playing in the Pac-10, Price is ready to do work in the NFL

Shady: Texas Tech Fires Mike Leach

Share/Bookmark

Nearly a week after allegations arose to mistreatment of players, specifically backup wide receiver Adam James, son of ESPN football analyst Craig James, claim that he was forced to sit in confined spaces whilst dealing with a concussion, Texas Tech has decided to give head coach Mike Leach the boot. Leach signed a 5-year contract extension in February and was due an 800 stack bonus if he made it to the new year as Tech’s head coach. Welp looks like that won’t be happening but Leach is planning to take the Red Raiders to court in order to get some more bread.

There has been outrage from both sides following Leach’s unceremonious exit, with some defending the once well-respected head coach, while others, including current players, are glad to see him get shit-canned. As a term of his contract, Leach will receive $400k for every year remaining on his deal which means he is owed $1.6 mill from the University. Not a bad chunk of change to basicall chill at the crib.

The catalyst for the firing revolves around Leach’s unwillingness to write an apology following the revelations of his alleged mistreatment of James, which included making him spend hours in what his family claimed was conditions not suitable for someone suffering from concussions. Leach’s camp has maintained that the coach did nothing wrong and sought out the opinion of medical professionals before making James chill in the “shed.” Via SportsbyBrooks

Money Mayweather Ready To Serve Pacquiao

Share/Bookmark

Check out the boy Floyd Money Mayweather in training about a month ago for a fight that may or may not be on and cracking. Mayweather gets into a verbal dispute with his sparring partner, going as far as to call him a “bitch”, which is a major no-no. Mayweather’s partner doesn’t take lightly to all the heat that is getting sent his way and has a few words of his own for Floyd. Hopefully the Mayweather and Pacquiao camps can get things figured out and stop with he said, she said shenanigans. Via TMZ

Nebraska WR Almost Trucks Dude In Wheelchair

Share/Bookmark

Check out the end of this run by Nebraska wide receiver Niles Paul. After the dude goes out of bounds he comes oh so close to trucking a dude on Arizona’s side that has no legs like that one legend’s chant in “Kids”. There was definitely some divine intervention with this one and the best part is that the dude in the wheelchair is pretty nonchalant about almost getting ran over, simply putting his hand to up to block Paul’s potential impact. Would could have been a tis tough turned out to be a simple close call.
